Hi Mr.Jason Gold. I just now saw that you had posted a response to my quest for a doctor who could help me in fighting these MRSA infections that I've been getting for a long time now. In my last post I had mentioned that I had an outbreak on my right knee and that was back in October, 2009 I believe and it still hasn't healed completely!!! It had gotten so bad and so deep that you could see my knee cap! You had asked where I live and I live in Pennsylvania, about 50 miles Northwest of Harrisburg. From the recommendation you gave,I take it you're on the west coast near Los Angeles, so that's a bit far for me to travel. I appreciate you thinking of me and taking the time to respond. A local doctor has put me on a twice daily dose of an antibiotic called Bactrim, which I believe is a sulfa based drug which makes me very susceptible to getting burnt if I'm in the sun more than twenty minutes or so. In your post Jason you mentioned that you were fighting your second round in four years and as difficult as it may be for you to feel fortunate when you get an infection, you should feel lucky. I wasn't exaggerating in my post when I said that I had at least twenty to twenty-five outbreaks in two and a half years. Some of those were horrific to look at. At times they make me think of a flesh eating bacteria in a horror movie. I'm sure that you can relate to that. My friend, thanks again for taking the time to respond and I wish yhou well in your srtuggle to overcome these crippling infections. One more thing, are your outbreaks have a relatively high fever(s)accompanying them?

If you have a wound with MRSA, its best to treat it with one of the following substances to kill the bug....
Iodosorb Gel
Acticoat by Smith-Nephew (high dose silver)
Betadine Ointment
Bactroban Ointment( twice a day)
Chlorehexidine solution rinse daily or low dose Dakins solution

Keep the wound covered at all times. wash hands after each episode of wound care/dressing changes.
Use gloves if coming into contact with wound drainage.

Hey there Mr. Doug Hosie. Not sure where you are but this doctor in Los Angeles is amazing. He is an infectious disease doctor (world renoun - even writes for or is a consultant for the show 'House').

His name is Jeffrey E Galpin, M.D.

Awesome doctor!

I've had at least 20 to 25 MRSA outbreaks in the past two and a half years. I've gone to countless doctors and infectious disease clinics and I've yet to find someone who can help me. I'm desperate to find some relief!! As I sit here and type this I have a MRSA infection on my right knee and I can't begin to describe the pain. There is so much swelling I don't think my skin can stretch any further. I've gone to the emergency room so many times I've lost count. Each time that I go all that they do is to take a culture and give me vancomycin I.V. and send me home. The doctor has told me that it has colonized in my blood which he says makes it dam near impossible to get rid of. Please if there is anybody out there who knows where I can go to get help I'd greatly appreciate it.

MRSA sucks. Fighting my second round in 4 years. Although the first time was much more severe (the infection was on my forehead, temporarily blinding me due to the swelling and nearly killed me because it was draining into my brain), this time I am finding the pain unbearable, excruciating and agonizing! The infection is spread throughout my right thigh and feels as if it were burning through my muscles and nerves. Can't wait to win this war already!

These wounds are horrific. MRSA is highly contagious and is becoming an increasing problem in hospitals.
